This is a Dahlia just beginning to open. I don't know the name of this particular breed of Dahlia but in colour it's a rich red with white and yellow stripes through it. Dahlias start blooming in the late Spring generally and will continue to bloom until the first freeze each year. Pacific Northwest floral 2017.
I'm a southern born and raised country girl at heart although I have resided in the beautiful state of Washington for over 30 years. I fell in love with the camera the first time I saw one. I needed no one to explain it's potential even at that young age. I'm a wife and mother of three and money was always tight while raising the kids. There was no time nor money back then to explore the magic with a camera. My children are now grown and retirement nears although my love for the lens has never faded. I'm now at a place in my life where I'm able to dive head first into my photography which is my passion. It amazes me still that I'm able to capture through my lens what the eye sees. I hope my work blesses those who see it as much as it has...

Congratulations Jeanette! This gorgeous black and white has been chosen as a feature in the Pacific Northwest Artists group on Fine Art America! You are invited to post it to the featured image discussion thread as a permanent place to continue to get exposure even after it is no longer on the group home page.

Thank you so much Joy! I am embarrassed to say I don't understand how to do that so I won't but I DO so appreciate it! Thank you sweet and kind lady. =)
